Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned) Provides engineering and technical support for new simple and combined cycle power plant projects and build-outs of existing plants from early project development and evaluation through the start of project implementation. Works to help identify and develop technologies and applications of these to help determine feasibility of moving forward with the project. Supports origination and commercial development staff working with EH&S, land, and legal to evaluate opportunities and negotiate power purchase and energy supply agreements, perform early development activities such as land acquisition, obtain environmental and building permits, and secure utility interconnections such as HV electric, fuel, water supply, and wastewater discharge. Manage third-party engineering firms in developing conceptual designs; work with both internal and external resources to develop project cost estimates and schedules. Partners with multi-departmental leadership and other stakeholders to locate opportunities and develop and prioritize projects according to relevant measurement criteria. Responsible to ensure that all project development technical aspects are sufficient in supporting commercial approval and are adequate to support execution within the defined scope, quality, time and cost requirements. Must have a comprehensive knowledge of power plant design, construction, and operation, including heat balances, water balances, mechanical systems and equipment, HV and MV electrical systems and equipment, geotechnical, civil, structural design, and construction methods. Will consult with internal SMEs throughout the development process to support the conceptual plant design, scoping, and contracting. Must be familiar with industry design standards, state and local building codes, and industry best practices. Defines project scope and objectives for consulting engineers and the engineering scope within EPC contracts. Must be familiar with the entire project(s) scope and requirements, and serve as liaison between project team members, internal company resources, plant operations, and company management. May perform conceptual high level engineering tasks and calculations required to support project development. Job Responsibilities
