The Mechanical Engineer (Matching Networks) is a primary technical resource for the field Applications and Sales force, responsible for actively driving and managing the technology development stage of the sales process. Working in conjunction with the Trumpf Huettinger sales team and R&D departments of the product centers as a key developmental arm, technical advisor and product advocate, the Mechanical Engineer must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales cycle. Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the development of custom matching network products through collaboration with Core Engineering in Europe.
- Collaborate in the design of electro-mechanical enclosures and mechanical mounting of Networks per Customer interface requirements.
- Collaborate with customers Technical Staff to capture requirements, design, prototype, and productize matching networks.
- Co-develop 3D CAD models with staff in Europe to develop products designed to meet customer requirements.
- Maintain expert level of product knowledge and industry applications - e.g. Semiconductor, Display, Renewable Energy, Industrial Thin Films
- Participate in design and project reviews with Customers and Internal Staff.
- Articulate technology and product positioning to both non-technical and technical audiences
- Provide design and specification development support to consultants, integrators, and distributors.
- Listen, understand, document and convey customer requirements to internal stakeholders; eventually leading to a client consult and presentation of proposed design and technical concepts
- Resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, values, and financial objectives.
- Perform technical/ product training for sales people, estimators, and engineers at client accounts
- Through coordination and cooperating efforts, communicate and review client technical roadmaps to products centers and ensure there is a transparent path to 1) allow TRUMPF Huettinger development projects and new technical concepts to hit windows of opportunity and 2) consistently meet client's technical objectives and expectations.
- Maintain accurate records of client accounts, opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts and correspondence in company approved databases
- Provide status reporting of ongoing projects and future projects.
- Travel to project sites to perform start-up, integration, and training services
- Support promotions and product sales at defined product trade shows and events
Experience
- Experience of 2+ years in similar engineering positions
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering desired, or demonstrated ability or work experience
- Expert in use of modern CAD programs for 3D modeling.
- Experience in fabrication processes of metal and plastic parts, sheet-metal forming, coating, and plating.
- Knowledge in joining and fastener methods for machined, sheet-metal, and plastic parts
- Proven Project Management skills.
- Desirable industry experience includes semiconductor wafer fab equipment, vacuum coating and plasma processes, power supplies (DC, AC, and RF), Renewable Energy and Induction heating.
