Job Summary:

NetApp U.S. Public Sector, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced attorney to join our legal team in the Washington, DC area. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in federal, state and local contracting as well as commercial contracting with strategic customers. This role primarily serves as the legal business partner for the U.S. public sector sales organization, including reviewing, negotiating, and drafting a wide range of contracts and subcontracts with U.S. public sector customers and partners as well as commercial customers in other regulated industries.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage team of legal and contracts professionals supporting federal and state and local government sales, including overseeing the drafting, review, and management of contractual agreements, ensuring they align with company policies and legal standards
  • Lead and manage high-stakes negotiations with strategic customers, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Experience in negotiating with clients in both the U.S. government (federal, state, and local) space as well as other regulated industries such as finance and healthcare is essential
  • Provide strategic legal guidance on federal, state, and local government transactions, and stay up to date with changes in relevant laws and regulations affecting public sector contracts
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., business units, finance, and compliance teams) to support business objectives to facilitate contract execution and manage risks associated with public sector contracting. Facilitate effective communication and coordination to ensure all aspects of the agreements are thoroughly addressed and aligned with the company's objectives
Job Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience in federal contracting as well as state and local government contracting, including 5+ years of experience in the technology sector, selling hardware, software, SaaS, and/or services to the U.S. government. Strong preference for previous in-house experience, law firm and government experience are also relevant
  • Expertise in public sector procurement regulations (FAR, DFARS, state and local regulations) and contracting (e.g., GSA, SEWP, NASPO, New York OGS, Texas DIR)
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Exceptional attention to detail, organized, and proven ability to be self-directed
  • Experience managing a team of legal and contract professionals in an in-house role
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure
  • Team player with a good sense of humor and high level of integrity, responsibility and professionalism, and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Embraces personal and organizational growth objectives
  • Flexibility in working hours to accommodate clients throughout the continental United States
  • Security clearance, or the ability to qualify for a security clearance
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
Education
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing

Compensation:
The target salary range for this position is $266K - $292K. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement or Pension Plans, Paid Time Off (PTO), various Leave options, Performance-Based Incentives, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU's), with all offerings subject to regional variations and governed by local laws, regulations, and company policies. Benefits may vary by country and region, and further details will be provided as part of the recruitment process.
