Overview World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world's leading conservation organizations, seeks a Lead Specialist, Conservation Areas (Washington, DC). Lead Specialist, Conservation Areas (Washington, DC) Design, implement & secure financing for area-based conservation (ABC) projects in Latin America & the Amazon. Overseas travel (10%) to remote areas in Latin America & the Amazon to provide technical support & capacity-building on protected areas & other ABC mechanisms. Master's in Ecology, Sustainable Development or related field. 5 yrs exp planning & managing large ABC projects in Latin America & the Amazon for Intl. conservation org. Exp working on community-based conservation w. indigenous orgs. in the Amazon. Exp developing fundraising proposals, providing tech support & capacity-building on protected areas and other ABC mechanisms. Fluency in Spanish (spoken & written) to communicate with Spanish-speaking stakeholders & indigenous communities, & to read & interpret technical docs.
