The Software Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for applying the principles and best practices of the software quality assurance program to support CPCCo work activities. This role involves acting as the software quality assurance subject matter expert, focusing on the implementation and maintenance of quality standards, processes, and procedures in all aspects of the software life cycle. Additionally, the SQE collaborates with other quality assurance and business units to develop solutions that address their specific needs.
Primary Responsibilities * Conduct QA surveillances of software documentation to ensure requirements of CPCCo procedure are met. (CPCC-PRO-IRM-309) * Review software development documents and verification and validation reports. * Ensure effective implementation of DOE O 414.1D, NQA-1, and other applicable contract requirements within the CPCCo SQA program. * Develop, maintain and implement the graded approach for software quality assurance activities in accordance with DOE O 414.1D. * Apply principles and practices of Software Quality Assurance competently. * Perform oversight support activities for software procurement and software development projects as required. * Participate in the development, review and approval of software development and management procedures. Ensure appropriate levels of software quality assurance integration. * Analyze, evaluate, and plan methods to solve complex technical problems. * Provide software quality assurance and quality control support on assigned programs and/or areas to ensure compliance with customer and company quality requirements. * Plan, schedule, and participate in QA program audits, surveillances, and assessments in support of assessment and corrective action programs, as required. * Assist with effective Management/Independent assessments and implement appropriate surveillance and audit activities through participation in Project Readiness Reviews, Project Planning, and Project Schedule Forecasting meetings. * Participate in external industry information sharing such as EFCOG meetings and other forums as applicable. * Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
* Career Level Grade 18: Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience with 6 or more years of relevant experience * Career Level Grade 19: Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience with 8 or more years of relevant experience
The higher posted level has greater scope, complexity, authority, impact. The level offered to the selected candidate will be based on the needs of the company and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience
Desired Qualifications
* Previous or current experience as a Software Owner or Subject Matter Expert (SME). * Familiarity with industry consensus codes and standards for software procurement, development and life cycle management such as IEEE, IEC, ISA or ANS. * Previous or current experience with training program development and implementation. * Previous or current qualification as an Auditor or Lead Auditor * Experience with performance measuring and improvement. * Previous experience in corrective action, causes analysis, and extent of condition evaluations.
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the CPCCo salary determination process, CPCCo takes into consideration the level of assigned job duties and responsibilities, and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience relative to internal peers and the external labor market. CPCCo will not solicit salary history for candidates.
Expected annualized pay range based on full time schedule (40 hours per week):
* Career Level Grade 18: $106,663 - $134,588 * Career Level Grade 19: $117,225 - $147,775
In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for variable pay awards.
