ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Safety

* Actively cares, promotes, manages, and advocates safety at Western States. As a leader and team member in the organization, it is critical to ensure all employees, vendors, and clients have a safe work environment while adhering to all applicable safety policies, procedures and standards.

* Maintains clean/clutter free personal work areas to ensure safe environments for all WSECO employees.

* Adhering to required personal protective equipment (PPE) as identified in safety policy.

Supervision and Quotations

* Supervises employees. Performs annual performance review and determines compensation increases. Administers discipline; authority to hire and terminate employees.

* Promotes the advantages of standard jobs, flat rate exchange, and repair bill of materials (RBOMs) within all areas of the company.

* Manages the design, creation, and use of standard jobs, RBOMs and quotations for the Service Department.

* Prioritizes what models and components standard jobs will be built for by analyzing machine population, opportunity, and job and component code history.

* Works closely with the Customer Service Representatives, Team Supervisors, and Product Support Sales Representatives (PSSRs) to ensure delivery of timely, accurate quotes.

* Assembles standard job teams for heavy equipment & for truck engines. Meets on a quarterly basis to develop and agree on standardized repair descriptions.

Analysis, Procedures and Training

* Creates and provides updated standard job lists, procedures, and training to all areas of the company.

* Creates flat rate analysis and standard job utilization/performance metrics report for all heavy equipment and truck shops as needed.

* Works with PSSRs and service team to identify opportunities for certified rebuilds and provides proactive pricing for targeted campaigns.

* Identifies need for standard jobs and reviews problems/hours as needed.

* Monitors standard job utilization and use of correct job and component codes through Sequel reports.

* Keeps current on updates and changes to the standard job software and programs.

* Participates and offers input in standard job and equipment management solutions team meetings.

* Creates standard jobs, flat rate exchanges and quotations.

* Promotes and manages all customer care standards.

* Actively cares and advocates safety at Western States. Promotes and manages safety at Western States. Ensures employees, vendors, and customers have a safe work environment. Adheres to and manages all applicable safety policies, procedures and standards.

* May accomplish training and serve as a team member in support of Western States' strategic programs, projects, and initiatives.

* Works within and promotes corporate vision, mission, and values of the organization.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Ability to learn and use new software.

* Ability to set and manage priorities.

* Professional verbal and written communication skills.

* Knowledge of Microsoft computer products and other comparable systems.

* Knowledge of Caterpillar equipment.

* Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.

* Consistent attendance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

* Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

* Five years experience as a heavy equipment service technician with increasing levels of responsibility and knowledge with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly, thoroughly, and correctly required.

* Knowledge and understanding of service software and applications required.

* Minimum one year supervisory experience preferred.

* Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write in English).

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:

* Must be able to sit for long periods of time along with walking, standing, climbing stairs, reaching pushing, pulling, leaning and twisting.

* Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies.
