The purpose of this position is to provide clerical service as a receptionist for City Hall. This is accomplished by providing customer service, answering phone calls and redirecting as needed, providing various administrative services, maintaining records, and interfacing with other City employees and citizens. This position does not provide direction to other employees.

Essential Functions

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
- Answers the main phone line for the City of Allen and serves as receptionist to City Hall visitors. Responds to calls and inquiries and proactively resolve customer service issues.
- Provides information to the general public, greets visitors, and provides general information.
- Receives, reviews, and distributes mail and processes outgoing mail.
- Provides administrative support for the Information Technology and Facilities departments, which includes correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, and procurement.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- High School diploma or equivalent plus one (1) year of relevant work experience
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered
Certification and Other Requirements
- Valid Texas Drivers License
Schedule
- This is a temporary summer position, typically scheduled Monday through Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Supplemental Information

Reading Intermediate - Ability to read papers, periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in high school up to college. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Math Basic - Ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in elementary school up to high school. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Writing Intermediate - Ability to write reports, prepare business letters, expositions, and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in high school up to college. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Managerial Receives directions: The employee normally performs the duty assignment after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results with some discretion when making selections among a few, easily identifiable choices. Assignment is reviewed upon completion.
Supervisory / Organizational Control No responsibility for the direction or supervision of others.
Complexity Work involves choices of action within limits set by standard practices and procedures. Professional judgment is required to apply the proper course of action.
