Overview
The Staff Development and Engagement Manager serves to educate, train, support and evaluate clinical staff within their operation. Functioning as a preceptor for all nursing new hires and evaluating clinical competencies for both new hires and existing clinical employees annually, this position supports clinical excellence and compliance within the branch. This RN assists with workflow within the EMR and can function as the Clinical Manager as needed to ensure timely quality care and services are provided. When not precepting, training or assisting with workflow, completes skilled nursing visits in the field and meets specific productivity levels.
Responsibilities
Conducts staff development and serves as a coach, mentor and role model for all direct care staff.
- Ensures all clinical staff appropriately and successfully complete orientation, all required in-services and training, and skills competency evaluations both at start of employment and annually.
- Serves as preceptor/resource to new nursing staff with ongoing engagement throughout their first year of employment.
- Collaborates with Branch Director/Administrator and Clinical Manager in the implementation of clinical education within the Branch/operation.
- Provides assistance and support for nurses participating in the Company's Clinical Career Ladder.
- Educates and trains clinical staff regarding job expectations, productivity standards, policies, procedures, quality initiatives and company educational initiatives.
- Serves as a resource in assisting the field staff with problem solving to provide the most appropriate care for the patient.
- Assists the Clinical Manager in providing direct, on-site supervision for all staff per company requirements.
- Serves to achieve retention goals among clinical staff in collaboration with the Clinical Manager and Branch Director/Administrator.
- Provides input and feedback to the Company's clinical education team for any training or education initiatives, materials or program needs.
- Assists the Clinical Manager in response to external and internal surveys and audits relating to staff development, the quality of care and clinically related KPI's.
- Provides direct patient care/skilled nursing visits adhering to set productivity levels for this position when not engaging in educational, preceptorship or Clinical Manager support roles.
- Assists with back office/clinical workflow within EMR as needed to ensure timely completion of processes and tasks.
Qualifications
- RN from an accredited school of nursing.
- Must have no less than 2 years clinical experience, and at least 1 year in related home health field.
- Must be a Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing and currently licensed by the State.
- Current CPR certification.
- Proficient with accuracy of Oasis Assessment scoring as evidenced by passing the Oasis Competency Exam with a score of 90% or higher.
- Must meet all agency requirements for pre- employment as required by the company and/or State regulations.
- Must maintain state regulatory certifications, as required by state/program requirements
- Successful completion of clinical documentation specialist exam.
- Basic clinical skills in a home, non-acute care setting.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- General knowledge of computers and the ability to learn industry specific software applications.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with a keen attention to details.
- Ability to develop and utilize critical thinking skills, research situations, solve complex problems and deal with a variety of issues.
- Ability to learn and complete various educational goals.
- Must have the ability to use company documentation systems.
- Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Capable of working responsibly with highly confidential information.
- Travel up tp 75% required.
- Must have an active and unrestricted driver's license with appropriate auto insurance and dependable transportation in order to drive to and from patient homes.
