Access Control Specialist!

Your Role

We're seeking a highly tech-savvy individual to manage and maintain Portland International Airport's (PDX) complex security infrastructure, including access control systems, and surveillance systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in security technology administration, access control, regulatory compliance, with the ability to analyze and leverage security data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions. Effective technical skill, along with experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders as liaison to construction teams, local, state and federal agencies will set potential candidates apart from the rest. This role hinges on a detail-oriented professional who can make informed, critical decisions affecting airport security operations. We offer a flexible hybrid schedule that combines work-life balance with team collaboration. You'll be in the office Tuesday through Thursday to engage with colleagues and support our business lines, with the flexibility to work from home on Mondays and Fridays.


Essential Job Duties

  • Manage PDX access control systems.

  • Manage access for all PDX badge holders and maintain database.

  • Manage PDX and Port HQ lock and key program.

  • Maintain database, investigate inquiries and produce reports.
  • Serve as the Aviation Security liaison to Port Construction, contractors, and the TSA on matters relating to airport construction.
  • Administer and support Aviation Security analytical tools and internal databases including Microsoft Office, Veoci, PortGIS, and SharePoint systems.
  • Make critical decisions affecting airport security while acting as PDX alternate Airport Security Coordinator with 24/7 on-call duties approximately one week every two months.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Security, Public Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum four years of experience in security, access control, and data analysis required
  • Minimum four years of experience in experience in aviation security, airport operations or construction required; OR
  • Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties.
  • Valid Driver's License - State DOT, required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain ACE Security Training - AAAE, required.

Demonstrated Skills & Abilities

  • Senior level knowledge of data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Senior level knowledge of: national amendments and security directives issued by TSA, 49 CFR 1520, 1542, 1544, and 1546.
  • Senior level knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations and aviation security and airport operations.
  • Advanced level skill in current Access Control and Identity Management software systems.
  • Advanced skills in being an active participant in projects by providing an aviation security perspective to business processes.
  • Senior SQL experience is desirable.
  • Entry GIS experience is desirable.
  • At a senior level, ability to analyze highly complex technical data and recommend defensible course of action and best system functionality.

Supplemental and Selection Information

Security

Employees in this position will be required to successfully pass and maintain security clearance relevant to assigned duties such as SIDA (Security Identification Display Area).

Compensation
Our organization adheres to established salary ranges for each position to ensure equitable pay practices. However, final offers are determined based on various factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and considerations of internal pay equity.

SELECTION PROCESS (tentative schedule):

  1. A minimum qualification evaluation of education, training, and experience of submitted application packets will take place by Human Resources the week of May 26, 2025.
  2. A Subject Matter Expert (SME) Panel will perform an evaluation of experience and training taken from your employment application materials.
  3. Our goal is to schedule virtual first round of interviews with candidates who successfully passed the SME evaluation as soon as possible.
