Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electronics Engineer to support operations at the Acoustic Research Detachment at Lake Pend Oreille in Bayview Idaho. ARD Bayview is a Navy Test Range that supports the signature advantage of Navy submarines, surface ships and underwater vehicles through the use of unique, cost-effective test facilities.
At ARD, successful candidates will be part of a multi-disciplinary team planning and executing complex testing of surface and underwater systems using static test facilities, towed platforms, and remotely controlled large scale models of current and future Naval platforms.

These tests further our understanding of hydroacoustics, structural acoustics, radiated and reflected noise, and advanced propulsion systems and support development of the Navy's most complex systems.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Physics from an accredited college or university;
  • U.S. Citizenship and Secret personnel security clearance (PCL)

  • Must have or be able to obtain a DoD SECRET security clearance
  • 10 years of experience as an Electronics or Electrical Engineer which includes some experience in all of the following areas:

    1. Development of complex acoustic measurement systems including hardware and software design, underwater sensors and arrays, power and signal conditioning, analog and digital circuit boards, microprocessors, digital telemetry electronics, long distance optical and digital data transmission via undersea cables, digital high and low voltage power distribution systems, data and communication control systems, Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI) grounding, shielding and noise mitigation.
    2. Calibration of acoustic measurement systems (both electronic signal injection and using in-water sound projectors.)
    3. Operations and Maintenance of acoustic and vibration data acquisition systems including in-water sensors and acoustic arrays.
    4. Design of electronic / instrumentation systems (non-acoustic) including control systems, power distribution systems and motor control systems.
    5. Engineering management leading subordinate electronic engineers and technicians teams related to the design, development, configuration management, implementation, troubleshooting, repair and operation of complex shipboard, electronic and underwater acoustic measurement systems.
    6. Utilization of engineering practices in the design / build of systems and use of electrical safety practices (Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), National Electrical Code, etc.)
    7. Developing diagrams, drawings, and procedures for task assignments to subordinate engineers and technicians.
    8. Recommending system design modifications to implement operational requirements, address obsolescence and mitigation of system shortcomings.
