The Position

This role is an important member of our Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) team, dedicated to ensuring the safety and compliance of our innovative pharmaceutical production facilities. As part of the Genentech Hillsboro Innovative Therapies Team (HIT), you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement programs that protect our people, maintain regulatory compliance, and uphold our dedication to environmental stewardship. The Opportunity:

As a SHE Program Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, health, and environmental compliance of Genentech's Hillsboro site. You will be responsible for developing and implementing SHE programs, conducting risk assessments, and serving as a subject matter expert to mitigate risks and enhance safety culture.

  • Develop and implement SHE programs, including training

  • Assist site leaders in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Roche corporate directives

  • Lead investigations into SHE incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions while sharing lessons learned

  • Serve as the primary SHE contact for internal and external audits and inspections, ensuring detailed reporting and closure of corrective actions

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve SHE functions and manufacturing processes

  • Conduct workplace risk/exposure assessments for various classes of hazards to systematically identify and reduce risk

  • Provide expertise and advise on a variety of EHS topics and workplace safety such as biosafety, ergonomics, machine guarding, environmental compliance, and emergency response

Who You Are:

  • You possess a Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) subject area with 7+ years of safety and health program management experience, OR a Graduate degree in a STEM subject area with 4+ years of proven experience

  • You have an in-depth knowledge of safety and health regulations

  • You have a demonstrated ability to make critical business decisions, effectively lead multiple challenges, and develop solutions within short timeframes

  • You have a consistent record of working effectively with multiple levels of employees and in a matrixed environment

  • You have a strong analytical background and problem-solving skills, with well-developed planning and organizational abilities

  • You demonstrate a high level of confidence leading meetings, delivering training, and speaking effectively to diverse audiences

  • You are adept in conducting and leading formal risk assessments in a manufacturing environment

  • You possess excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Requirements:

  • Work experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or high-tech industries

  • Certification in one or more areas such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Safety Manager (CSM), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Ergonomics Professional (CPE)

  • Knowledge and experience with Oregon OSHA regulations

  • Proven track record to reframe challenges into opportunities and influence others to adopt new behaviors and approaches

  • Resilience and adaptability in navigating organizational resistance

  • Experience as a champion for Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives

This is an on-site position, remote options are not available.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Hillsboro, OR is $75,000- $139,200. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
