About the Opportunity:

This role will directly support the Machining production line or the Tube bending and assembly line in Pursuit's South Windsor facility. The Engineer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving manufacturing methods. They will be expected to utilize knowledge of product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.

Location: South Windsor, CT

This role is expected to be onsite 5 days/week with ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Responsibilities:

Under general supervision:

  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing processes
  • Analyzes and plans machine utilization, space requirements, workflow, equipment layout, and workspace for maximum efficiency
  • Analyze design proposals, specifications, manuals and other data to evaluate feasibility, cost and maintenance requirements of designs or applications
  • Investigate, research, and analyze equipment failures, malfunctions and processes to diagnose, or make recommendations for changes to align with cost and quality standards
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and computer-generated reports
  • Specifies system components of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications
  • Collaborate with production personnel, other engineers, management, and outside vendors to improve the yield and quality of existing products and identify areas of inefficiency
  • Lead and participant in a wide array of projects
  • Provide technical support of manufacturing equipment and tools
  • Support bid and proposal activities for customer requests for quotes, including run time and processing time estimates

Required Qualifications:

  • 2 years experience in manufacturing or related industry
  • Working knowledge of CAD/CAM system (MasterCAM, NX, Solid Edge)
  • Working knowledge of machining, assembly, fabrication and/or welding
  • Working knowledge of inspection methods and shop mathematics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to speak and write effectively to employees of all levels in the organization
  • Able to speak and write standard English
  • Legally able to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field
  • 4 years experience in manufacturing or related industry
  • Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma processes
  • Working knowledge of special processes including, but not limited to EDM, Waterjet, tube bending, and airflow measurement
  • Process Control and PFMEA experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires mobility in a manufacturing plant environment while using Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
  • May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, acetone, alcohol, argon, braze alloys, nitrogen, hydrogen, oil based or water-soluble lubricants, and cleaning solutions
