DCS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR 1 - NORTHEAST REGIONAL OPERATIONS Department of Children's Services NE Regional Ops OCS Nashville, TN & Johnson City, TN Salary: Monthly Salary Range - $117,192 - $188, 088/annually (midpoint $152,616/annually) Closing Date: 06/02/2025

Job Overview:

The Executive Director of Field Operations oversees the regional administration of all Child Safety, Child Programs and Juvenile Justice case management within their assigned region. This position is responsible for directing operations and ensuring alignment to strategic goals of the Department for their respective region within DCS six region model. An employee of this class performs work of unusual difficulty and supervisory work of considerable difficulty; performs related work as required. This classification may supervise employees in the Regional Director classification. The Executive Director of Field Operations will devise and lead strategic plans in collaboration with other Executive Directors of Field Operations and Assistant Commissioners of Field Operations and will ensure all guidelines and operations are adhered to and implemented consistently by regional leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports the Assistant Commissioner of their assigned region and the Deputy Commissioner of Regional Operations in developing the long-term goals.
  • Oversees Child Safety, Child Programs and Juvenile Justice case management within their assigned region.
  • Directs, reviews, and participates in the study of regional operations, functions, and activities.
  • Ensures the consistent application of case management policies and practices within their assigned region.
  • Collaborates with Central Office service units to enhance the delivery of services and support innovation of regional case management.
  • Develops, submits, and administers the Department budget.
  • Evaluates staff and makes recommendations on personnel actions.
  • Partner with Juvenile Justice and Statewide Services service units to help ensure regional case management teams are receiving support from their departmental counterparts.
  • Please note: Applicants must live in a county within the assigned regional area.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Qualifications Bachelors degree from an accredited college, Masters desired 5-7 years in a progressive managerial or supervisory capacity in an organization supporting children and families 2-4 years experience as a Regional Director or central office leadership position Preferred Skills Ability to develop and implement a clear, flexible vision to promote permanency.
  • Strong leadership skills to guide and direct effectively.
  • Proven track record in managing and implementing large-scale programs and initiatives, particularly in child welfare, family services, or related fields.
  • Experience in creating effective processes for deploying child welfare, family services, or related fields.
  • Ability to manage cross-programmatic projects to improve outcomes for children, youth, and families.
