Responsibilities

We are currently looking for an Operations Supervisor to join the Specialty Chemicals, Inks and Dispersions Division in Rochester, NY.

This individual will be responsible for all business and operational aspects of the chemical production area. In this role, you will interact with numerous functional groups to maintain and improve business and manufacturing results. Additional responsibilities to include:
* Supervise direct personnel on shifts through daily interaction with team leaders and operators. Responsible for:
o Writing performance appraisals and tracking performance.
o Preparing with direct reports, their performance commitment plan and development plan. Reviewing these quarterly.
o Handling personnel issues including discipline through HR processes.
* Responsible for overall performance of their area, including:
o Health and Safety and Environment
o People - Morale, absence
o Quality
o Delivery
o Cost - Usage, Absorption, Labor and Burden.
* Lead Reviews and Lifeguards when a serious incident occurs. Ensures that corrective actions are completed to prevent a reoccurrence.
* Monitors production in Area. Works with technical and other support staff to address any quality concerns. Will interact with customers as necessary.
* Support Area Teams by committing resources to identify and implement process improvement opportunities.
* Review cost standards to ensure accuracy. Review monthly cost reports to ensure that productivity programs are being cashed, and area is on track to deliver productivity results. Initiate countermeasures as appropriate.
* Participate in and support Lean Manufacturing activities
* Participate in the commercialization and scale-up of new chemical processes assuring HSE, Quality and Delivery targets can be achieved.

Required Skills/Experience:
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* 10+ years leadership experience in a chemical manufacturing environment
* Demonstrated strong analytical troubleshooting capabilities
* Proven team player
* Ability to effectively work and communicate across team boundaries
* Excellent people skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
* Good writing skills
