Based on our tremendous growth we are adding to our Retail Team and have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Tailor to be based at our Philadelphia location.

JOB SUMMARY: Support retail store by sewing, altering, measuring, embroidering and/or quality control on uniform or equipment items.

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tailor to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to alter, and repair high-quality police uniforms, ensuring precision, durability, and adherence to departmental standards. The ideal candidate will have expertise in tailoring, a strong understanding of uniform specifications, and a commitment to delivering professional-grade garments that meet the needs of law enforcement personnel.

Key Responsibilities



  • Custom Tailoring: Measure, fit, and tailor police uniforms to ensure a precise and professional fit for each officer, adhering to specific departmental guidelines and uniform standards.
  • Alterations and Repairs: Perform alterations and repairs on existing uniforms, including hemming, resizing, patching, and replacing components such as buttons, zippers, and insignia.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished garments for accuracy, quality, and compliance with departmental regulations, ensuring all uniforms meet strict standards for appearance and functionality.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain records of materials, supplies, and completed uniforms, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely delivery of orders.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain sewing machines, sergers, and other tailoring equipment, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.


Qualifications



  • Experience: Proven experience as a tailor, preferably with a focus on uniforms or professional attire. Experience with law enforcement or military uniforms is a plus.
  • Skills: Proficiency in sewing, pattern-making, and garment construction, with a keen eye for detail and precision in measurements and fittings.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with uniform standards, particularly for law enforcement, including fabric types, insignia placement, and durability requirements.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to produce high-quality work with a focus on accuracy and consistency to meet strict specifications.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with clients and team members, ensuring clear understanding of requirements and expectations.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, handle heavy fabrics, and operate tailoring equipment. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; formal training in tailoring, fashion design, or a related field is preferred but not required.


Work Environment



  • Work is primarily performed in a tailoring workshop in the store.
  • Understanding of uniform fittings or consultations.
  • May require working under tight deadlines to meet uniform delivery schedules.
