About the Job
This position is in the Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Minnesota. The Division of General Internal Medicine has developed an outstanding cohort of clinicians, teachers, and young educational leaders. The division is united in the mission of patient care and has enthusiastically accepted and embraced teaching and educational leadership roles. The majority of faculty members are clinical scholars whose academic activities involve scholarship related to clinical and educational activities.
Project focus: The most immediate need is for independent, pro-active work on a clinical trial, which will occupy about 3 to 4 years of time. Dr. Bramante also engages in other research, and in time there may be need for help on another project, if time allows.
Responsibilities with approximate breakdown of effort spent on these: Manage the day to day activities of research study (75%): Assist PIs with research, coordination, administration, planning and implementation of study; Coordinate and monitor data collection activities remotely as well as in person as per the study needs; Assist with recruitment, consenting and study follow-ups and collaborate with other study team members timely; Anticipate and resolve problems; Applicant will participate in all phases of research; Work as part of a team of other researchers on the study Target and meet specific study recruitment goals; Prepare REDCAP electronic data forms; Prepare reports regarding study progress for the study team; Organize investigator team meetings; Coordinate UMN and other site study activities; Coordinate IRB communications Interface with the CTSI team who is helping with ct.gov account; Assist with preparation of progress reports for funders; Assist with administration of informed consent as schedule demands; Assist with data entry as schedule demands; Assist with preparation on presentation and publications of research findings; Support PIs' interactions with departmental accountant to ensure fiscal reporting and budgetary management of project; Promptly contact the PIs for potentially serious adverse events; Ensure compliance with human subjects, HIPAA, participant consent, and study personnel training requirements and other regulations.
Perform research planning and implementation; interpret and develop policies and carry out policy analysis projects on complex issues requiring considerable independent judgment (5%) Develop and implement comprehensive timelines, project plans, and identify resources to manage and meet grant deadlines (5%) Understand design goals and design strategies for meeting the goals. Lead, train, and coordinate staff involved in activities such as recruitment, enrollment, of participants (15%) For example: train new staff on the protocol and protocol updates Coordinate schedules of staff to insure that enrollment and follow-up goals are met Monitor enrollment and follow-up to ensure that enrollment and follow-up goals are met Other research study and research program-related tasks as needed
Qualifications
Required Qualifications- All required qualifications must be documented on application materials. Clinical research experience: protocol implementation, coordinate subject visits, prescreen, consent and enroll subjects, complete the subject data entry from start until the end of the study. Bachelor's degree in public health, clinical research, biology, statistics, pre-medical studies, chemistry, plus at least 2 years of related experience or a similar combination of education and experience to total 6 years. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and experience with REDCap. Experience following IRB/HIPAA guidelines. Ability to read and communicate in English. Excellent organization skills with attention to detail. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Able to work independently. Proven track record of reliability.
Preferred Qualifications- Be available to work variable hours, including some early evenings and occasional weekends. Be available to work remote as well as in person per the study needs. Experience in an academic medicine setting. Regulatory experience in IND and Certificate of Confidentiality applications.
