POSITION SPECIFICS The research laboratory of Dr. Kateryna Makovain theDepartment of BiologyatThe Pennsylvania State Universityhas an opening for aPostdoctoral Scholarto study evolution of non-canonical DNA. Candidates with an interest in non-B DNA and/or in the analysis of mammalianevolution are particularly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will join an established dynamic group with a strong record of funding and publications. The candidate will work in a highly collaborative interdisciplinary environment and will have an opportunity to validate their experimental findings in genome-wide computational experiments. We are part of theCenter for Medical Genomicsand theCenter for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. We have strong links toPenn State College of Medicineand computational biologists from theGalaxy team. Penn State is a vibrant scientific community with strengths in bioinformatics, computational genomics, statistics, molecular evolution, and population genetics. Our location in State College, Pennsylvania, is known for excellent schools, affordable living, and numerous opportunities for outdoor activities. Education and Experience A Ph.D. in Biology or a related field is required, and experience in the biophysical and biochemical analysis of non-B DNA is preferred. Candidates should be familiar with molecular biology techniques and scientific programming basics. Additional Information The start date is flexible, with September 1 2025 being the earliestdate.
