About the Job

The Director of Operations for Gopher Softball is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the softball program, including administrative coordination, travel logistics, recruiting support, video and technology management, alumni engagement, and booster communications. This position serves as the primary operations liaison for Gopher Softball and plays a key role in supporting the overall success of the program.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Head Softball Coach and is expected to:

  • Organize, direct, and coordinate the program's administrative operations.
  • Operate and maintain all video and technology systems used within the softball program.
  • Assist with all aspects of on-campus recruiting efforts.
  • Attend departmental meetings as required.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of NCAA rules and ensure adherence in all areas of responsibility.
  • Be available to travel and work evenings and weekends as dictated by team and event schedules.
  • Provide assistance during on-field practice sessions as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

30% Administrative Support, General Operations, and Travel Management

  • Coordinate all aspects of team travel, including hotel accommodations, transportation, rental vehicles, and preparation of detailed itineraries.
  • Plan and manage team meals, team functions, meetings, player pass lists, and other team-related logistics.
  • Process invoices and purchases through the University accounting system.
  • Assist with ongoing budget management and reporting in collaboration with the business office.
  • Support promotional activities in partnership with Marketing, Communications, and Video staff.

30% Video

  • Record all games and practices throughout the season.
  • Manage and tag video content for scouting and player development purposes.
  • Set up, film, and edit footage of practices, workouts, and competitions.
  • Create highlight and motivational videos for internal and external use.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to video, editing software, and networking.

30% Recruiting Management

  • Assist with all on-campus recruiting activities, including official and unofficial visits, often during weekends.
  • Coordinate and maintain accurate documentation for coaching staff recruiting travel and reimbursement.
  • Organize and document official visits in compliance with NCAA rules.
  • Direct promotional recruiting events and projects in collaboration with the coaching staff.

5% Alumni Relations

  • Plan and coordinate alumni events including fall alumni games, tailgates, and other engagement opportunities.
  • Maintain consistent communication with alumni through newsletters and other correspondence.

5% Booster Club

  • Organize booster events such as tailgates and program gatherings.
  • Generate and distribute regular newsletters and communications to booster members.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience in softball or collegiate athletics.
  • Experience with video software and analytics platforms including Synergy, Teamworks, SportsCode, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations related to recruiting and operations.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $45,581.00 - $45,700.00 annually; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment Category: 75%-100% Appointment (If job description above does not specify appointment or expected weekly hours, assume a 100% appointment.)
