Velosity Forest Lake is searching for a Purchasing Manager to support our Forest Lake, MN location. This role will lead purchasing operations and staff to develop an effective supply chain capable of meeting customer and organizational objectives focusing on first time right, on time delivery, manufacturing cost control as well as meeting legal and other required requirements.
The typical pay range for this role: $84,278 - $126,417 annually.
This pay range reflects the base hourly rate or annual salary for positions within this job grade, based on our market-based pay structures. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal equity, business needs, and local market conditions. While the full range is shared for transparency, offers are rarely made at the minimum or maximum of the range.

Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED-General Studies.
- Preferred Associate's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
- Valid identification and the ability to work legally in the United States; Valid driver's license required.
- Preferred 3 years of experience in plastic injection molding
- Previous experience with Medical and/or Defense industries preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in a purchasing leadership role required .
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Quality Systems software, IQMS experience preferred.
- Functional knowledge of supplier development and purchasing procedures. Understanding of standard industry practices for contract review, contractual flow down of requirements, and supplier evaluations and development.
- The ability to multi-task, coordinate conflicting priorities, and navigate critical changes in the supply chain to reduce risk and manufacturing costs. Must be able to lead teams to make effective supply chain decisions that mitigate risk and maximize operational effectiveness.
Essential Functions:
- Work cooperatively with all employees.
- Lead the purchasing team in developing proper supplier selection, development, and ongoing performance monitoring to meet organizational and customer expectations.
- Generate and manage orders focusing on best practices to meet customer lead times and contractual requirements/expectations.
- Determine production requirements and order raw materials as needed.
- Monitor order acknowledgements and material certifications for correctness and completion.
- Focus on continual improvement of the supply chain as well as the purchasing processes to maximize first time right, on time delivery, and cost control objectives.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers to effectively balance current inventory levels and procurement risk including terms of conditions, inventory levels, and payments.
- Develop and manage all aspects of purchasing operations to ensure an effective flow down of purchasing specific requirements to the supply chain with provided information from project teams and contract review outputs.
- Support supplier quality discussions and remediations
- Support ISO and customer audits. ROHS and Eco Vadis requirements
- Support the materials group to ensure proper communication of critical material requirements including materials with shelf-life limitations and/or obsolete inventory dispositions.
- Provide effective and timely communication to cross functional members of the team including operations, quality, scheduling, engineering, estimating, customer service, and sales.
- Develop and foster positive/professional relationships with key Velosity suppliers.
- Support estimating and sales during the RFQ process to meet customer objectives, limit Velosity supply chain risk, and control costs where possible.
- Other tasks assigned by supervisor.
Physical & Mental Demands:
- Walking is required within the office/shop areas. Sitting, standing, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, and fingers are physical requirements. Must have correctable eyesight and good depth perception. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Must be able to walk, sit and occasionally climb and balance. Must be able to lift 10 pounds and move objects in a safe manner using proper equipment. Must have dexterity with hands.
- Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and complete them within a timely manner (results oriented); Ability to make decisions with limited information.

Work Environment:
This is a non-smoking, professional manufacturing shop with normal lighting and climate control. This position may require one to move throughout the shop and office and may be subject to airborne contaminants and chemical odors as would be customary in an injection molding/ Precision Machining shop.

When in certain locations of the facility, eye and ear protection are required. Closed-toed/ Slip resistant shoes are also required in certain locations.
