Your role with us As a speech therapist at Salem Health, you'll be a vital part of our inpatient rehabilitation team, helping patients regain essential communication, cognitive, and swallowing functions after life-changing events such as stroke, brain injury, or spinal cord trauma. You'll work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment where your expertise directly supports patient recovery and quality of life. This role offers opportunities to expand your clinical skills through advanced assessments, mentorship, and continuing education-all while making a meaningful impact every day. Our Inpatient rehabilitation team provides intensive therapy-three hours per day, five days a week-to patients recovering from stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, amputation, and other complex rehabilitation diagnoses.
What you'll do
- Conduct evidence-based evaluations for speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with measurable, functional goals.
- Collaborate with patients, families and interdisciplinary teams to support care and discharge planning.
- Administer and interpret instrumental assessments (e.g., swallow studies) as appropriate.
- Document therapy sessions and billing accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with coverage guidelines.
- Provide exceptional patient care and customer service, fostering a supportive and respectful environment.
- Manage caseload efficiently, adapting to department needs and productivity expectations.
- Mentor and delegate tasks to clinical fellows and therapy aides as appropriate.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education opportunities.
Required qualifications
- Current license to practice Speech-Language Pathology in the state of Oregon, or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), or eligibility to obtain certification.
Additional information
- One year of experience or clinical experience in inpatient rehabilitation.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire required.
