L2:

Estimated annual base pay: $76,880 (minimum) - $96,100 (midpoint) - $115,320 (maximum)

L3:

Estimated annual base pay: $94,800 (minimum) - $118,500 (midpoint) - $142,200 (maximum)

The Application Engineer II reports to the Engineering Leader and is responsible for the performance of routine functions which require the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out customer requirements, specifications and proposals. This position requires a moderate level of supervision; most work is still reviewed by a more senior engineer. In addition, this level may participate in project-specific relationship building with Customers, Suppliers, field service personnel, individuals or organizations.

What you will be doing...

L2:

  • Perform less complex tasks like test setups, calibration, emissions testing, and hardware/software evaluations while supporting cross-functional teams.

  • Create and update project documentation (e.g., BOMs, wiring diagrams, schematics, manuals) under engineering oversight to meet team objectives.

  • Support PLC processes, documentation systems, and validation efforts, including design reviews and V&V testing for customer applications.

  • Provide customer support to maintain designs, resolve field issues, and assist with system startups and product specifications.

  • Promote process improvements, utilize GAP software for test setups, and contribute to multi-site and international projects integrating third-party hardware.

L3:

  • Perform and lead complex tasks like software/hardware testing, engine calibration, emissions testing, and NPI/manufacturing support, while coordinating with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

  • Create and update project documentation, including BOMs, schematics, test plans, customer manuals, and training material, ensuring compliance with PLC processes and department procedures.

  • Lead or participate in design reviews, V&V efforts, and technical issue resolution, while mentoring and supporting level 1-2 engineers and field personnel.

  • Support commercial proposals, customer presentations, and product specifications, while identifying innovative solutions to project challenges and maintaining customer relationships.

  • Champion process improvements, regulatory compliance, emissions certification, and advanced technical efforts, including GAP software use and participation in industry activities.

What we are looking for...

L2:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or scientific field (preferably Electrical or Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent military experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant field experience

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities

  • Understanding of industry standards, Woodward technical standards, quality systems, and PLC processes

  • Familiarity with F&IDs, P&IDs, and BOM

  • Preferred experience in electrical cabinet design and development

  • Knowledge of industrial electronic instrumentation is a plus

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Mechanical or Electrical is required

L3:

  • Bachelor's degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Technical/Science or international equivalent required

  • 5+ years of relevant field experience required

  • Effective time management, written and verbal communication (including technical reports and presentations), and leadership abilities

  • Ability to operate effectively in project teams and communicate with customers

  • Competent understanding of design tools, standards, DFSS methodologies, and engineering quality systems

  • Skilled in using PCs, associated software, and WISE applications (e.g., BOM, NCR, EC screens)

  • Competent in complex problem-solving and troubleshooting

  • Recognized as a company expert on specific products or technologies

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, standards, and system testing requirements

  • Contributes to creating department and organizational procedures
