Job Summary

A scientist to lead research projects leveraging FIB-SEM and cryoET and train new users.

Essential Job Duties
  • Lead the development of research projects leveraging single-particle cryoEM, FIB-SEM and cryoET, specifically with a focus on Mechanosensation processes so that he could collaborate on relevant projects.
  • Develop experimental procedures to handle diverse samples for cryoET/FIB-SEM, including bacteria, eukaryotic cells and tissues.
  • Be responsible to the operation, scheduling, and maintenance of the FIB-SEM instrument.
  • Train new users, including other staff members, students, and postdoctoral scholars.
  • Serve as a backup in the absence of the individual responsible for coordinating the ordering, processing, restocking of lab supplies, equipment, animals and maintain general organization of lab.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair laboratory equipment and/or instruments, and/or schedule external engineer repair of the instrument.
Basic Qualifications
  • PhD in biology, biological engineering, or related field.
  • 6 years of relevant scientific research and experience with cryoEM.
  • Must have prior experience in single-particle cryoEM for sample preparation, data collection and data processing.
  • Must be diligent and responsible for their own work.
  • Must have excellent communication and customer service skills, working with faculty, postdocs, students, and research staff.

Hiring Range

$71,000 - $105,500 Per Year

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
