POSITION TITLE:

Occupational Health Nurse, Ovik Health

JOB LOCATION: Salisbury, MA

POSITION REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Human Resources

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This role will have direct contact with our mainly Spanish speaking, manufacturing associates and must be personable, professional and genuinely interested in providing outstanding guidance and care. Our ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, work well as part of a team, be self-motivated, have a good work ethic and be able to multi-task in our fast-paced manufacturing environment.

As an Occupational Health Nurse, you will promote, protect and help restore workers' physical and mental health by establishing, supporting and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. You will manage all workers' compensation claims to provide for timely resolution of each claim, return the worker to gainful employment and minimize the compensation costs in partnership with the human resources and safety teams.

This role would have an oversight of Mayflower manufacturing team associates in Salisbury, MA.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide associates with both physical and psychological nursing care
  • Offer advice and counseling to associates to assist their work and personal health decisions
  • Establish strong partnerships with local testing / care facilities
  • Medically manage workers compensation claims serving as a case manager and help coordinate follow up care. Work with adjusters to ensure seamless continuity of care throughout the entire process
  • Attend any workers' compensation hearings as needed
  • Be actively involved in incident investigations
  • Manage substance abuse program and reasonable alcohol and drug testing program
  • Manage early return to work program
  • Work with attorneys on worker compensation legal claim management
  • Provide associate health training
  • Maintain OSHA compliance programs such as hearing conservation, blood borne pathogens, pulmonary function testing, etc.
  • Coordinate pre-placement physical, drug testing and annual medical monitoring.
  • Maintain OSHA 300 log and any other reports necessary to meet governmental compliance
  • Maintain, organize, and audit medical records, maintaining HIPPA, and privacy for medical records and personally discussed issues
  • Available to assess injuries. All work-related injuries no matter how slight should be assessed by the nurse
  • If injury is severe, nurse may accompany associate at hospital and/or urgent care and remain with him/her
  • If the associate is injured after hours, and it is not critical, then the associate should follow up with the nurse during regular scheduled work hours
  • Communicate with corporate safety and risk management as needed
  • Coordinate and manage First Responders Program ensuring all training requirements are met
  • Monitor and manage clinic supplies and first aid cabinets and AED's
  • Support HR in the administration and management of FMLA
  • Serve on the plant safety steering committee and perform regular audits of safety processes

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Massachusetts RN license
  • Min. 3 years' experience in occupational health
  • Ability to travel up to 15%
  • Bilingual: Spanish/English
  • Evidence of self-initiative, personal accountability, follow-through and detail oriented
  • Consistent demonstration of sound judgement, professionalism and diplomacy
  • Able to work a variable schedule to ensure coverage of all three shifts

QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED:

  • Experience setting up and managing an occupational health department in a manufacturing environment is a plus
  • Maintains working knowledge of Massachusetts state worker compensation laws and health & safety regulations

WORK ENVIRONMENT/SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION:

This job is operated in a manufacturing facility. This position is a safety-sensitive position and occasionally works around moving mechanical parts and powered industrial vehicles. Noise level can be medium to loud. Temperatures can vary depending upon the time of year and outside impacts.

SHIFT/WORK HOURS:

  • Mon-Friday and typically 8am to 5pm, but hours may need to vary throughout the week to ensure regular communication with all three shifts
