Job Description

Raymond West is looking for a dynamic Project Specialist to join our Systems team! Raymond West Intralogistics Solutions is committed to providing our customers with end-to- endless warehouse solutions. The Project Specialist is responsible for preparing detailed installation requests for quote (RFQs) by combining engineered drawings with vendor-provided bills of materials (BOMs). This role requires strong technical expertise in conveyor systems, electrical components, and controls. The engineer will work closely with vendors, installers, and internal teams to ensure all installation details are accurately documented and executed.

Duties and Responsibilities

Technical Documentation & RFQ Preparation




  • Analyze conveyor system drawings and integrate vendor-supplied BOMs to develop detailed RFQs.
  • Define scope of work for installers, detailing conveyor modifications, additions, removals, and wiring requirements.
  • Identify all required materials, hardware, and electrical components for installation.
  • Ensure RFQs include specifications for motor controls, sensors, safety devices, and cabling.
  • Verify mounting, anchoring, and structural support requirements for conveyor placement.
  • Ensure power distribution and load balancing considerations are addressed.



Conveyor & Electrical System Knowledge




  • Understand roller, belt, and modular conveyors, including drive systems, rollers, bearings, and chain configurations.
  • Knowledge of PLC-based conveyor controls, VFDs, motor starters, and field I/O devices.
  • Familiarity with 480V 3-phase and 24V DC control systems, including wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to read ladder logic and schematic drawings for troubleshooting control system requirements.
  • Knowledge of photo eyes, limit switches, encoders, solenoids, and pneumatic actuators used in conveyor automation.
  • Ensure proper grounding and conduit layout for electrical runs.



Vendor & Installer Coordination



  • Work with conveyor vendors to review and validate bid packages, ensuring accuracy of BOMs.
  • Define installation sequencing, shutdown requirements, and changeover procedures.
  • Collaborate with installers to clarify scope, troubleshoot issues, and validate mechanical and electrical interfaces.
  • Validate fastener, bracketing, and alignment tolerances for conveyor mounting.
  • Define cable routing plans and electrical panel connections.



Compliance & Safety



  • Ensure all installations meet OSHA, NEC, and NFPA electrical codes.
  • Specify requirements for lockout/tagout (LOTO), emergency stop circuits and guarding.
  • Confirm compliance with fire suppression system clearance and egress requirements.


Preferred Certifications



  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification
  • NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Training
  • AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical Certification



Required Skills/Abilities:



  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in conveyor installation, warehouse automation, or material handling systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar drafting software.
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and PLC wiring.
  • Experience writing detailed technical RFQs for mechanical and electrical installations.
  • Ability to interpret and apply conveyor system design standards and electrical codes.
  • Hands-on experience with conveyor troubleshooting, field wiring, and commissioning preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


  • Excellent Organizational Time Management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software.
  • Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with employees and co-workers
  • Present a mature, responsible appearance.
  • Be able to perform duties under minimal supervision with quick response times for issues
  • Must demonstrate drive and initiative and maintain records of activities.
  • Be willing to continually learn new products and policies.
  • Learn quickly and perform accurately and neatly with a degree of flexibility.
  • Perform independently and as part of a team with Sales, suppliers, installers, and clients.
  • Be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Must be able to produce a valid, unrestricted Driver's license.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, and oral, diagrams.
  • Critical thinker, problem solver, and high success in conflict resolution strategies
  • Demonstrates excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills and looks to make a difference in project management and process management.

Travel Requirement:



  • 5% - 10% (2- 4 hours a week)
  • Must be able to be insured by Raymond West.

Pay Range:



  • The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $103,000. The specific pay offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.


Qualified candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
