DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Housing Inspector, you will be responsible for scheduling and inspecting privately owned dwellings under Section 8 rent subsidy programs, as well as any properties of additional housing programs assigned to the York Housing Authority to ensure compliance with Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and local regulations. You will assure that HUD standards are achieved through confirming that all electrical, plumbing, heating and ventilating systems, and housing accommodations are structurally and functionally operative, safe, and sanitary. Within this role, it is essential to stay informed of the most current HUD housing standards and local codes. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in the area of building structure or maintenance inspection; or
- One year of building or trades experience which included work in the area of cost estimation; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which afforded the applicant the above required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
Other Requirements:
- This particular position also requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.

- Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within York County. If no eligible candidates who live within York County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
