Senior Air Permit Engineer
Location: Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing, or Novi, MI Fishbeck is looking for a Senior Air Permit Engineer to join our Environmental Health and Safety team. In this role, you'll work closely with industrial and governmental clients to solve complex environmental challenges, ensure regulatory compliance, and develop sustainable strategies. From preparing permit applications to conducting fieldwork, you'll have a direct hand in shaping cleaner operations and healthier communities. You'll collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the industry-leading projects, mentoring junior staff, and building strong client relationships along the way. What You'll Do
Prepare and review air permit applications, air emissions inventories, and regulatory compliance documentation
Conduct process reviews, develop emission calculations, and assess regulatory requirements
Analyze and interpret data for reporting under federal and state environmental programs
Develop and submit greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories and emissions reports
Provide on-site regulatory support for industrial facilities
Build long-term partnerships with clients through technical excellence and strong communication
Train and mentor junior staff and contribute to Fishbeck's collaborative culture
What You Bring
Education & Credentials:
Bachelor's in Environmental or Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field
PE license preferred (but not required)
Experience & Skills:
10+ years in environmental compliance (consulting, regulatory, or EHS experience preferred)
Demonstrated experience with air permitting and regulatory reporting
Deep understanding of federal and state environmental regulations
Strong technical writing and communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable managing calculations and data
Knowledge of air dispersion modeling a plus
Ability to lead multiple projects and mentor others

Physical Requirements
