Job Purpose

This position, along with the Assistant Branch Manager and/or Branch Team Lead positions, provides leadership for the branch in all areas of operations so that our members experience the highest levels of service while ensuring that all compliance and regulatory requirements are met.

Key Accountabilities

  • Directly responsible for hiring, training and ongoing development of branch staff. Managing associates schedules, PTO requests and ensuring compliance with staffing models.
  • Ensure all branch staff are able to assist members in a professional, courteous, efficient manner while accurately executing transactions, account file maintenance, opening or closing accounts, inputting or processing a loan application, and completing IRA documents etc.
  • Plan and manage branch strategy to ensure all goals and metrics are met.
  • Capable of working in and troubleshooting multiple systems, build working knowledge on regulations and policies in order to reinforce knowledge with staff, and able to multi task.
  • Represent HFCU in a professional manner to all internal and external customers, business partners, community and Honda Companies with a high degree of business ethics. Maintaining a strong community presence through participation in approved local events and outreach initiatives.
  • Ensure the branch is following all HFCU internal controls as well as policies and procedures. Preparing reports, analysing data and communicating with senior management.
  • Ensure all branch staff have high expectations set for their performance, clarity so that they understand these expectations, and accountability to meet the expectations. Coaching and performance reviews should be performed in a timely manner.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Minimum of five years financial institution or customer service experience
  • Minimum of three years supervisory or managerial experience
  • Preferred credit union experience
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged but not required
  • Commitment to quality member service, ability to handle multiple tasks, decision making skills, self-motivation, oral and written communication skills, professionalism, willingness to assist other employees, strong organizational skills.
  • Succession planning to ensure that future credit union leaders are identified supported and developed successfully.

Working Conditions

  • The Branch Manager is expected to provide branch oversight so working hours are dependent on the branch's specific hours. Some travel may be required for training, meetings, conferences, etc. The physical requirements of the job are the same as a typical office environment. Overtime would not be the norm and would probably only occur if some special event is happening or staffing challenges occur. It is expected that all branch manager duties should be completed in a normal 40-hour week.
