Job Summary

The Director of Student Success is a strategic leader responsible for advancing student persistence and success by designing, implementing, and assessing initiatives that support students throughout their entire academic journey-from entry to degree completion or university transfer. This role leads data-informed strategy development, promotes cross-functional collaboration, and works to identify and remove barriers to student success at every stage of the student lifecycle.
Working closely with institutional stakeholders, the position provides vision and oversight for college-wide retention and persistence efforts. Through rigorous data collection and analysis, the Director identifies key trends, highlights populations in need of targeted support, and delivers actionable insights to guide institutional decision-making. The role emphasizes continuous improvement and innovation in programming that supports academic progress, engagement, and student outcomes.

Essential Functions

30% - Leads, designs, and assesses a comprehensive college-wide retention program, including semester-based engagement efforts that enhance student success and persistence. Sets the overall retention vision, including strategy, goals, objectives, and learning outcomes across the student experience, and spearheads continuous evaluation to inform program enhancements.
25% - Partners with student services, faculty, academic units, the district office, and external community organizations; Oversees cross-functional teams dedicated to outreach and communication strategies for targeted student groups.
20% - Manages staff and daily functions within the Student Success department; Represents the department on college and district-level committees.
15% - Creates and delivers ongoing professional development and training sessions for college personnel involved in retention-related efforts.
10% - Oversees budget management and tracking; Compiles and presents reports analyzing program outcomes and performance data

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, business administration, public administration or related field and four years of related experience that includes two years of management and supervisory experience.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

1. Master's degree
2. Experience providing oversight to multiple departments or programs within Student Affairs.
3. Experience leading cross-functional teams and building partnerships to drive college-wide initiatives that support student engagement, retention, and success.
4. Experience with supervision and providing ongoing training to staff, with a strong focus on promoting continuous learning and professional development for direct reports
5. Experience in the design, execution, and assessment of student success initiatives, including creating targeted support strategies for at-risk student groups.
6. Experience using technology tools (i.e., Tableau, Symplicity, Qualtrics, Cranium Cafe/ConexED, etc.) in project management and data analysis.
