We are looking for an Engineer II to perform safety cases and prove that the safety requirements for the system are appropriate and adequate for the planned application. These safety cases will demonstrate the integrity programs are effective and sufficient to achieve safety of our pipeline, facility, and storage assets.

Here's what you will do:

  • Perform safety case processes, engineering assessments and operational change assessments for pipeline, facility, and storage assets.

  • Drive technical discussions with stakeholder to support the development, implementation, and execution of high-level programs, processes and policies which directly contribute to the continual improvement of Safety Case regime.

  • Develop safety case assessment and recommendations

  • Support the development of the processes and records associated with Safety Case assessments and related recommendations and reports

  • Engage stakeholders in technical discussions safety case assessments.

Who you are:

You have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering and between 2-4 years of progressive and diverse pipeline, facility, and/or storage industry experience.

  • Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer.

  • Safety and engineering knowledge of pipelines systems and\or facilities/storage systems.

  • Knowledge of the science, tools, and strategies used in pipeline and\or facility integrity management.

  • Knowledge of the techniques and methods used to determine and analyze safety issues of importance and to make a judgement on the safety of a system (e.g. HAZOPS, risk assessments, safety case).

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Infographic tools, and Microsoft Word.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.

  • Strong attention to details.

You can:

  • Produce clear, structured, and technically accurate documentation, tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Demonstrate understanding of the principles and concepts of safety and safety management applicable to pipelines and\or facilities (e.g. criteria for accepting risk).

  • Demonstrate ability to make judgement, without being inappropriately influenced.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills with well-developed written and verbal group presentation capabilities.

The below are preferred assets:

  • Experience working within a Safety Case regime.

  • Understanding in the field of integrity, pipeline risk, statistics, and mathematical modeling.

  • Experience of working on a pipeline / facility in some capacity and to be familiar with the safety and quality standards that are expected.

Working Conditions:

  • Typical office environment with up to 10% of domestic travel opportunity.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
