This position is a tiered position. Incumbents will have a position level assigned based on their skills and experience, and in alignment with position development plans. Position placement is at Amtrak's sole and absolute discretion.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Serve as the primary manager for operations of IMCS across the New York Division. Daily tasks will include responsibilities in both the office and the field in all types of weather conditions to support a 24/7 operation. Territory is across the New York Division (Holmes - CP216), including SSYD.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:




  • Serve as central management point of contact for all afternoon operations within the New York Division of IMCS.
  • Observe field activities to ensure conformance with safety protocols and correct activities that do not conform when necessary.
  • Report observations to drive improvement in the overall safety culture. Implement safety work plans for the prevention and elimination of personal injuries and hazardous conditions on Amtrak property and the right-of-way.
  • Monitor work performance in the field and audit technical procedures.
  • Investigate accidents and respond as required.
  • Monitor and track all IMCS related delays during shift.
  • Coordinate work across departments- interfacing with Transportation, System, and Mechanical to ensure safe and efficient train movement in conjunction with planned work.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:




  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent work experience and training in position of similar capacity.
  • Qualified or possess sufficient experience to be qualified in: FRA Regulations, NORAC, RWP, & AMT2.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience and ability to interface with all levels of employees including both external and internal customers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and applied experience in railroad operations, operating rules, and divisional operating processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience with MS Office, creating spreadsheets, presentations, memorandums, and utilizing other applications to perform job functions.
  • Possess strategic and tactical skills required for planning and executing complex project work.
  • Strong leadership required, encompassing effective communication, motivation, and team building/team performance skills.
  • Strong Safety Focus.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under tight time constrains, pressure, and multiple priorities.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:




  • Master's degree in engineering, Construction Management or equivalent work experience and training in position of similar capacity.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer or ability to acquire.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience preferred.


WORK ENVRIORNMENT:




  • Combination of Office and field (primary) environment. Position is subject to respond to emergencies in all weather conditions 24/7.
  • Travel: this position will be in the field at least 50% of the time.
  • Hours: Flexible hours 1pm-10pm EST

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.



The salary/hourly range is $100,000-$110,408.08 for Field Engineer and $115,000 - $126,929,69 for Sr Field Engineer. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee's assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee's base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
