Maintenance Planner & Scheduler

Reports to Maintenance Manager

No direct or indirect reports

JOB DIMENSIONS

  • The Maintenance Planner & Scheduler is responsible for planning and scheduling all non-emergency maintenance work for the Maintenance group.
  • As the planner, this individual will develop job plans for all work order notifications detailing manpower, tasks, durations, supporting crafts, parts, materials and equipment.
  • As the scheduler this individual will act as a liaison between Manufacturing and Maintenance to schedule and coordinate all planned maintenance work performed at the site.
  • The Planner & Scheduler has the authority to approve the contractor and services for their jobs. They obtain quotes from vendors, evaluate, and award jobs.

This role does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities; however, it is a highly visible role and leadership qualities are required in guiding the technicians and outside contractors in policy, procedures and standards.

ACTIVITIES

  • Process all non-emergency work notifications evaluating for detail and priority accuracy
  • Identify all resources needed for work to be completed including manpower or other needed crafts, parts, tools, manuals, prints/drawings/P&ID's, Permits and Outside Services.
  • Identify any safety hazards or precautions including Hot work, Lock Out / Tag Out, Line Breaks, Confined Space Entry, Working from Heights, etc.
  • Convert to work order
  • Procure any special tools and parts as needed
  • Detail step by step instructions for completing the request
  • Work with operations to schedule the work
  • Work with manufacturing to prioritize maintenance work to create a daily schedule that will meet production demand and minimize down time
  • Work with Operations and Maintenance to develop value added preventative maintenance plans and schedules for all equipment throughout the plant
  • Prepare shut down work
  • Develop detailed task lists and materials for shutdowns
  • Work with operations to develop shut down schedules
  • Ensure all resources needed for shutdowns are on site and available in time
  • Review shut down work and modify task lists/procedures as necessary
  • Keep EAM up to date including the Functional Locations, Equipment and Bill of Materials
  • Evaluate completed work orders for accuracy and close out in a timely manner
  • Point of contact for outside vendors and outside services utilized for planned maintenance activities
  • Work within the maintenance, engineering and production functions to keep stocked parts, materials and tools updated with appropriate quantity

CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT

  • Middleton is an OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) facility and our process involves highly hazardous chemicals (solvents)
  • This is an office-based role with significant time spent in the plant researching equipment and job status
  • Follows written instructions and standard operating procedures
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Fast paced production environment where safety, accuracy, and attention to detail are required
  • Works well in high pressure situations with competing priorities
  • All safety regulations and PPE requirements must be followed at all times

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Practice safe work habits in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and Bostik rules and regulations
  • Maintains good housekeeping practices - keep work area organized
  • Keep current with all purchasing and financial data entry and reporting expectations
  • Complete all mandatory company safety training requirements: 5S, Safety Observations, Pure Safety
  • Responsiveness to production and other customers along with problem solving and learning
  • Act as member of the maintenance team, assisting others as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency required, some technical training or college preferred
  • Additional education such as a 2 year technical degree is a plus.
  • Strong maintenance background working in a mechanical or electrical maintenance role
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, prints and P&ID's
  • Good communication skills across all levels of the organization and outside vendors and contractors
  • Must be able to plan, organize, and manage multiple objectives and deadlines simultaneously
  • Good computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office products and SAP or a similar ERP system

RECOMMENDED BUT NOT REQUIRED

  • Experience planning and scheduling maintenance work
  • Experience and knowledge about repair of HVAC equipment, Electrical equipment, industrial chemical equipment and mechanical seals for agitators and shafts
