The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.

Position Summary/Details: Fall 2025 - Unified Comms, IT Operations Student Internship/Co-Op
Collaborate and assist as part of a Team that Designs, implements, and maintains all components of Database Management Systems (DBMSs). Learns to plan organize and coordinate database-related projects and maintenance activities. Assists in analyzing and visualizing data, building reports and dashboards for internal departmental use.

Accountabilities:
* Assist the DBA team in performing database-related activities in support of development projects or off-the-shelf software implementations.
* Monitor database backup queues and alerts with oversight from more senior DBA staff. Perform database recovery and restoration as instructed.
* Collaborate as part of a team in project planning activities for database upgrades. Perform data analysis and create project documentation.
* Execute mitigation plans for vulnerabilities discovered and logged in Service Management tools with oversight from senior DBA staff.
* Enforce database standards and procedures for primary DBMS products in use at TECO Energy.

Physical Location of Co-op:
- 1898 Nuccio Parkway, Tampa - Ybor Data Center 2nd Floor (Prior to August 2025)
- Bearss Operations Center (August 2025)

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
The successful applicant should be enrolled in an ABET accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.

Co-Op Requirements:
* To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university's co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
* A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.

Degree - Information Technology, Computer Science / Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related technology discipline

Year in School:
* No preference

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Experience working with Microsoft Tools - MS Excel
* Knowledge of basic concepts for Information Technology
* Good writing and communication skills

Working Conditions
A. Mostly in a normal office environment
* Part - Time (20-30 hours)

A pre-employment drug screening, physical exam, as well as a background check (including employment, criminal and motor vehicle) will also be conducted as part of the pre-employment screening.

No medical exam is required, driving would be under 30% if any and NERC access will be needed

Pre-employment physical exams may be required for positions with bona fide job-related physical requirements regardless of disability.
