12 month contract A. Introduction / Background
The RTX Additive Manufacturing Process and Capability Center (AMPCC), centrally hosted at Raytheon
Technologies Research Center (RTRC), encompasses a critical mass of Additive Manufacturing (AM) process and
industrialization experts, the necessary equipment, and develops the strategic collaborations needed to rapidly mature
the technology and manufacturing readiness of the critical technologies that are required to accelerate the
development, transition, and deployment of additive manufactured products and systems for RTX's business units.
B. Objectives
The AMPCC is working with various customers to develop Additive Manufacturing processes and tools. There is a
need to coordinate multiple tasks and ensure deliverables are met on time.
C. Scope of Work
Engineer will manage multiple projects and hardware at the RTX AMPCC. Tasks will include maintaining
prototyping schedules, coordinating with requesters and suppliers, managing material transfers and shipping,
managing post processing, heat treatment and machining of prototypes. Engineer will utilize and develop tools,
processes and standard work to improve the AM build process and may utilize various in-house and commercial
software packages. Process parameters and build steps will be documented and data reviewed to identify future
process improvements. Reports will be issued to customers as required.
Tasks will also include management of fabrication projects supporting Business Unit (BU) deliverables. This will
require coordination of resources including development of project management plans, schedules, resource and
budget requirements. Regular coordination meetings will be led and reporting will be provided by this position. Any
tasks not listed but related to the management of the projects will also be provided by this resource. D. Tasks
Task 1: Project Management
Engineer shall develop and maintain prototype fabrication schedules including machine usage and post processing.
Task 2: Data Analysis
Engineer shall analyze data from builds to ensure compliance with requirements. This includes supporting any
resulting root cause investigations or continuous improvement initiatives.
Task 3: Reporting
Engineer shall issue reports to customers on status of builds as required.
Task 4: Tool Development
Engineer shall evaluate, develop or enhance tools to track jobs and parts
Task 5: Hardware logistics
Engineer will perform packaging, manage shipping and tracking of hardware among various internal departments and
external vendors. This may include setup of equipment and transition of hardware between process steps. E. Deliverables
Regular coordination meetings will be led and reporting will be provided by this position at a minimum 3 times per
week with additional meetings as required.
