UCLA is seeking a Title VI Officer to lead institutional Title VI compliance efforts, build processes from the ground up, and make meaningful impact on civil rights protections across campus. Reporting to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Civil Rights, the Title VI Officer will guide the institution's response to Title VI concerns through impartial investigation, policy leadership, and community-wide education. This newly created role is a key leader within the Civil Rights Office and will serve as UCLA's subject matter expert on Title VI.

    Lead Investigations: Manage and resolve Title VI complaints. Supervise investigations and coordinate with campus partners to ensure integrity, consistency, and clear communication.
  • Policy Development & Oversight: Design and implement campus-wide policies and compliance strategies for Title VI. Monitor and report progress and outcomes.
  • Education & Outreach: Create and deliver impactful training programs and legal/policy updates for stakeholders. Champion education as a tool for institutional change.
  • Strategic Advising & Leadership: Act as a thought partner to senior administrators and academic leaders. Serve on committees and collaborate closely with the UC Systemwide Office of Civil Rights.

What You'll Bring:

A Juris Doctor (JD) and extensive knowledge of Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, ADA, Section 504, and relevant HR laws is required for this role.

Expertise in:

  • Conducting impartial and thorough investigations
  • Training diverse audiences on civil rights compliance
  • Communicating complex legal and policy information clearly and effectively
  • Mediating conflicts and advising stakeholders with empathy and professionalism
  • Leadership Traits: Collaborative, strategic, detail-oriented, courageous communicator, and deeply committed to justice

Salary: $166,000 per year
