Engineer II, Transportation

RK&K is currently hiring Transportation Engineers to join our growing team in Baltimore, MD. As a Highway/Roadway Engineer with RK&K, your responsibilities will include design and analysis of transportation facilities. Projects will include, but not be limited to new roadways, bikeways, trails, road widening and/or diets, and multimodal improvements.

Essential Function

• Design and analysis of horizontal and vertical alignments
• Prepare plan, profile, cross section, and detail sheets
• Design temporary traffic control plans
• Calculate quantities and prepare construction cost estimates
• Preparation of design documentation
• Preparation of specifications packages
• Work with other disciplines on creative solutions to design challenges
• Work with and teach/mentor junior staff
• Begin to establish relationships with clients

Required Skills and Experience

• Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience in roadway design
• Working knowledge of basic roadway design principals
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Engineering Intern (E.I.) license in MD (or equivalent from another state) or ability to obtain within six (6) months
• Microstation/OpenRoads CADD design
• Innovative intersection design/ADA design
• Sidewalk, bikeway and shared use path design
• Roadway geometric design
