Our Opening and Your Responsibilities As our Sustaining Engineer, you will focus on supporting, improving, and maintaining the Thornton portfolio of sensors and analyzers. You will be responsible for design-related updates and issue resolution for existing products that have been released and are in production. You will have a lead role in mechanical design, verification, and documentation of product changes that result from component obsolescence, supplier changes, quality improvements, cost reductions, and customer related issues. You will also own and lead the transfer of New Product Development and Introduction and design changes to Manufacturing Engineering until training and transfer is completed. Your responsibilities will also include: Working with limited supervision as part of the R&D team to support, troubleshoot, and improve existing product lines, focusing on mechanical components and systems. Designing, qualifying, and specifying mechanical and electro-mechanical components and systems for existing products. Conducting root cause analysis to solve problems in products that are in the field. Implementing changes to improve product performance, reduce costs, improve manufacturing efficiency, and ensuring continued product compliance with regulatory standards. Working with NPDI teams to ensure a smooth transition from the design phase to production. What You Need to Succeed Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or other related engineering discipline. 3-7 years of experience in a mechanical, sustaining, or manufacturing engineering setting. Experience with SAP or other ERP system is a plus. Working experience with Creo, Solidworks, or AutoCAD. Exposure to a manufacturing setting. This position is considered safety sensitive and is subject to drug testing as permitted by law.
