It's an exciting time for the Optum Advisory - Provider Technology Services practice - the market is growing and opportunity abounds. We have some of the deepest healthcare technology expertise in the country and a portfolio of products and services that drive significant value for the clients we serve.

We are looking for a Strategic Director - Growth to join ourProvider Technology Services leadership team. Someone who likes to build talent, build a business, and partner with our consulting leaders to bring our products and services to the market.

This individual will be involved in designing a go-to-market strategy, evolving the value proposition of the practice's services, defining and driving a market engagement plan, and overseeing business development activities for the practice and sub practices. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of achieving results, building relationships, and a solid customer focus.

At Optum, Directors are responsible for leading business development efforts, solutioning Optum's offerings to meet a prospect's requirements, and ongoing management of VP- and C-suite client relationships with health system executives; as such, this individual will have an annual sales target as well as an annual target for overall managed revenue and/or utilization.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Collaborate with consulting and marketing leadership to articulate and represent the value proposition of EHR Services in sales collateral
  • Develop KPIs to measure business development efficacy, including CIO awareness, touchpoints, and lead generation. Manage the commercial pipeline and provide regular updates to executive leadership
  • Promote EHR Services internally by developing relationships with client-facing teams to identify and deepen relationships with complex clients
  • Promote EHR Services externally by partnering with content, product, and service teams to identify thought leadership needs and develop strategies for tech team presence at industry events
  • Own commercial forecasting and communicate progress on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Analyze trends from active pursuits to inform strategic shifts
  • Develop infrastructure to support and train consulting teammates on business development skills
  • Communicate and present effectively to various audiences, utilizing solid listening, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Exhibit exceptional strategic selling skills, including discovery, ROI development, presentation, sales cycle maintenance, tactical planning, and closing

Required Qualifications:



  • 5+ years of consulting experience including 3+ years in healthcare consulting
  • 3+ years of commercial experience owning or leading sales processes and targets
  • Proven exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Experienced in the consulting space and/or digital technology company experience
  • Ability to coach others to perform and achieve results
  • Ability to clearly demonstrate problem-solving capacity and be timely and responsive
  • Ability to travel up to 30% domestically



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Highly proficient in Power Point and Excel
  • Proven solid understanding of EHR systems and healthcare IT landscape
  • Experience as a successful influencer who can interact effectively with diverse groups of stakeholders
  • Proven negotiator

The salary range for this role is $124,500 to $239,400 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
