Job Description Summary:Under immediate direction, performs a variety of basic tasks that focus on providing learning opportunities and exposure to a range of activities. Duties may range from special projects directed toward particular objectives or duties typical of the organization that supplement existing department operations.
The job provides an opportunity for high school students interested in preparing for careers in science, technology, engineering, medicine, or business operations to work in specified area, gaining knowledge and experience in field of interest. JOB SPECIFICATIONS Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to solve basic and repetitive intellectual problems using closely prescribed procedures. Ability to work successfully in a team environment. Ability to develop relationships with co-workers and employees in other National Academies' departments through effective communication. Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with an ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees. Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Current enrollment in high school. Minimum Experience: None. Physical Capabilities: Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time. Required Licenses, Certification or Registration: None. Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls: Reports to manager/supervisor. Supervisor is available to organize work, set objectives, and to assist in problem resolution. Compensation: The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine support equity and fairness for all, and transparency in our compensation programs. The compensation for this position is $17.50 per hour, plus potential overtime. Work Environment:Hybrid Office/Telecommute environment, expected onsite percentage 60%, with occasional travel between National Academies' facilities and to off-site meeting/sponsor locations.
