Job Summary:



This General Cardiology APP will provide comprehensive direct patient care, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of pediatric cardiology patients at the Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) in the outpatient setting. This is a 1.0 instructor/senior instructor faculty position within the Department of Pediatrics, Section of Cardiology.

Key Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:



  • Direct patient care of the pediatric cardiology patient
  • Performing comprehensive patient histories on new or established pediatric cardiology patients
  • Physical examinations with additional focused cardiovascular exam
  • Order and interpret lab work
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests or official reads of EKGs, echocardiograms, chest radiography, cardiac CT, MRI and exercise tests.
  • Implement treatment or management plans that may include medications or referral for interventions of our cardiac catheterization or cardiac surgical team. Following standard or practice and established pediatric cardiology guidelines
  • Support and coordinate case management in the psychosocial needs of the pediatric cardiology patient
  • Collaborate, refer, and consult with cardiology attending physicians, consulting specialists, and other members of the health care team to deliver effective, safe, and high-quality care
  • Contribute to organizational and departmental quality improvement projects
  • Participate in research and evaluation of research protocols when applicable

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor or Senior Instructor, based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Instructor:

Nurse Practitioners:



  • Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with ability to obtain Prescriptive Authority in the State of Colorado.
  • Pediatric Advanced Practice licensure (PNCB or similar)
  • Masters from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program required.
  • Current State of Colorado license
  • Current Certifications in Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
  • Prescriptive authority or eligible for certification at time of hire


OR

Physician Assistants:



  • Graduate from an APAP approved Physician Assistant Training Program
  • Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Current State of Colorado License
  • Current Certifications in Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
  • Prescriptive authority or eligible for certification at time of hire


Senior Instructor:

Nurse Practitioners:



  • Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with ability to obtain Prescriptive Authority in the State of Colorado.
  • Pediatric Advanced Practice licensure (PNCB or similar)
  • Masters from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program required.
  • Current State of Colorado license
  • Current Certifications in Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
  • Prescriptive authority or eligible for certification at time of hire
  • 5 or more years of experience in a Pediatric field at the level of Instructor or Sr. Instructor within an academic institution


OR

Physician Assistants:

  • Current State of Colorado License
  • Current Certifications in Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support

  • 5 or more years of experience in a Pediatric field at the level of Instructor or Sr. Instructor within an academic institution


Condition of Employment:



  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Prior experience in Pediatric Cardiology
  • Minimum of 1-year nursing or advanced practice experience in Pediatric Cardiac Care


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Strong working knowledge of Pediatric Cardiology and congenital heart disease
  • Ability to provide high customer service to diverse patients within an academic medical setting
  • Ability to manage patients with complex medical histories and/or diagnoses
  • Ability to effectively collaborate within interdisciplinary inpatient and outpatient teams
  • Strong clinical care skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to Patient Safety, Quality Care, Communication, and Customer Service

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Instructor: $103,000 to $113,000

Senior Instructor: $113,000 to $123,000

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
