EMBOSS Study Coordinator
Job Summary UCSF is one of six sites across the country in a new NIDA Clinical Trials Network randomized effectiveness-implementation trial. The study objective is to determine whether office-based methadone with pharmacy administration/dispensing or buprenorphine (BUP) results in greater treatment retention in patients with opioid use disorder (OUD). The study also will identify implementation barriers, facilitators and acceptability at the patient, provider, and health-systems level for office-based methadone with pharmacy administration and/or dispensing. The study in San Francisco is conducted at the Outpatient Buprenorphine Induction Clinic (OBIC) in the SOMA neighborhood and will enroll at least 100 patients over a 3-year study period.
This position supports the Principal Investigator (PI), as Study Coordinator, independantly carrying out a broad range of research trial responsibilities, including staff supervision.
Supervises staff involved in routine research study coordination. Receives predetermined work assignments that are subject to a moderate level of control and review. Oversees staff in execution of assignments; trains and mentors staff to improve quality and quantity of work. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $87,900 - $187,700 (Annual Rate). Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area.
- Minimum of 4 years work experience in settings that serve people who use drugs
- Past experience working on a NIDA Clinical Trials Network study
- Minimum of 1 year experience abstracting data from Epic Electronic Medical Records and from the CURES Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) system
- Minimum of 1 year experience maintaining research protocols in the UCSF IRB and Brany IRB platforms
- Working knowledge of clinical or laboratory research, clinical trial recruitment, eligibility, protocol adherence, quality data submission and adverse event reporting.
- Familiarity with eClinical database platforms
- Experience processing point-of-care urine toxicology and pregnancy tests, including inventory management and safe processing
- Experience manipulating UCSF budget spreadsheets
- Ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in word processing and spreadsheet software. Effectively uses campus' clinical information and documentation application programs. Proven ability utilizing clinical trial management systems.
- Good interpersonal skills, including but not limited to: problem-solving, teamwork development, leadership, mentorship. Interpersonal skills to effectively motivate others. Works well with others to achieve common goals. Ability to cultivate relationships with multiple stakeholders at various levels of administration.
- Clear and concise communicator; good verbal and written communication skills; both.
- Critical thinking skills to evaluate issues and identify a potential solution.
- Demonstrated skills in employee supervision and HR administration. Demonstrated experience in training others, particularly in the field of research.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, prioritize projects and meet the demands of a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. Adaptable to quickly changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Clinical Trial Professional certification from a professional society within one year in position.
- CA State certified HIV pre- & post- test counselor
