About the Opportunity:

We are looking for a Process Engineer to join our New Product Introduction team in Plainville CT. In this role, the Process Engineer will work with other NPI engineers in developing and implementing new manufacturing processes based on 3P and Kaizen methods to ensure the production of high-quality aerospace components. This position requires a strong understanding of precision machining, aerospace industry standards, kaizen principles, 3P, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Location: Plainville, CT

This role is expected to be onsite 5 days/week with ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Responsibilities:

Under general supervision:

  • Design lean manufacturing processes based on the New Product Introduction (NPI) Team. Utilizing 3P & kaizen principles to deliver a process within schedule and budgetary parameters.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed manufacturing work instructions, routings, and process documentation.
  • Provides hands-on development and engineering support by troubleshooting problems and implementing timely solutions to maintain the continuity of production flow.
  • Monitors and debugs new methods and procedures to ensure system efficiencies.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and procurement, to achieve project goals.
  • Interfaces with technical and non-technical vendors and outside sales personnel to evaluate cost estimate and implement solutions to meet program objectives.
  • Create and optimize CNC programs for milling, turning and other machining operations.
  • Develop tooling and fixture designs to enhance machining efficiency and precision.
  • Training manufacturing (operators & engineers) on the newly developed processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or aerospace machining environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aerospace manufacturing experience is preferred
  • Proficiency in CNC machining, programming, and set up.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and aerospace standards.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software- preferably Siemens NX & Solid Edge.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and project management skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma processes
  • Working knowledge of special processes including, but not limited to EDM, Waterjet, tube bending, and airflow measurement
  • Process Control and PFMEA experience

Working Conditions

  • Requires mobility in a manufacturing plant environment while using Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor
  • May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, acetone, alcohol, argon, braze alloys, nitrogen, hydrogen, oil based or water-soluble lubricants, and cleaning solutions
