The Sr. Software Engineer role will report to the Sr Manager, Software Engineering role in our downtown Chicago, IL headquarters. This role contributes to the engineering of large-scale solutions that enable Echo's business, while supporting the strategic architectural vision of quality, scalability, performance and function. The Sr. Software Engineer role is an active member on a dynamic team looking to build Best in Class software. The ideal candidate for this role is able to produce high quality work quickly and also serves as a resource and mentor to their peers whenever possible.

Responsibilities:

Software Engineers work with other engineers, Product Owners, Designers, and senior leadership. You will need to be able to:

  • Perform duties in an Agile environment
  • Contribute to technical design and architecture, including high-level conceptual diagramming
  • Work with your product owner to break down user stories
  • Produce high quality code and address any technical debt
  • Support and be accountable for timely releases of the features you work on
  • Test your code to ensure your software functions as expected. Handle any errors and understand broad microservice/micro-frontend workflows. If a bug should arise, you will need to isolate, reproduce, and track defects
  • Carry out a root cause analysis on defects to ensure fixes are happening in the right way
  • Provide mentorship to your teammates
  • Manage software risk, balance priorities, and go above and beyond the call of duty

Position Requirements

  • 5+ years developing micro front-end, commercial-grade, business applications leveraging the following:
    • Javascript/Typescript, React, & Nodejs
    • HTML, CSS, & JSX
    • Writing performant, mobile-first, responsive code
    • Building well-tested reusable components and component architecture
  • 5+ working with a Design team to build and maintain a design system
  • 3+ years building and maintaining a micro front-end architecture

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
  • 3+ years of experience in Agile practices

Compensation

$112,350.00-165,050.00 per year This role is eligible for a bonus that is based on a combination of personal and business performance.
