Process Line Technician
Job Summary & Essential Functions: The following describes in general terms the purpose and scope of the position.
Summary: Duties may include attending to equipment that chemically cleans grease, scale, dirt, and other foreign matter from fabricated sheetmetal details. Performs non-destructive tests upon fabricated sheetmetal details in accordance with customer, industry and military specifications. Prepares and applies chemical and sprayed coatings to fabricated sheetmetal details in accordance with customer specifications. Also, must be able to read various mechanical and electronic gauging systems to monitor calibrate and maintain all chemicals and processes within established guidelines.
- The ability to wand into and out of the Baan labor reporting system on a daily basis.
- Verify the operation as specified in the traveler as it relates to the operation being performed (i.e. the proper material, thickness, process, etc.).
- Set up cleaning line for processing of parts.
- Rack or place parts in containers for immersion in chemical and rinsing solutions.
- Process details to customer specifications.
- Dry processed parts.
- Inspect cleaned details to ensure conformance to customer specifications.
- Log necessary data into logbooks.
- Maintain chemical integrity of solutions in the cleaning line.
- Apply chemical coatings by dipping or spraying IAW customer specifications.
- Assists in draining, cleaning and refilling chemical baths.
- Participates in internal and external audit, as needed.
- Properly perform specific calibrations and tests.
- Be knowledgeable of any necessary parts preparation before and after inspection.
- Organize and document test results.
- Follow all approved testing procedures.
- Maintain all equipment, including gauges, application equipment and controls.
- Observe all safety rules while performing tasks.
- Understands and practices the principles of the Ducommun 6-S Program.
- Be familiar with all Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Cross train in other facets of the process line.
- Maintain a minimum of Level I qualification.
- Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
- Must be willing and able to work overtime as necessary.
- Acceptable attendance is an essential function of the position.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required by the position.

- Math Skills - decimals, percentages, fractions - geometry and trigonometry preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mylars.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments including but not limited to calipers, indicators, and scales.
- Read and understand internal procedures and policies and travelers.
- Understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions.
- Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.
- Computer Skills - able to learn new screens, reports, functions, software programs and internal ERP systems.
- Communicates courteously and professionally at all organizational levels.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to communicate effectively.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit.
- Annual baseline hearing test is required.
- The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the outlined experience level, education, training, minimum years of experience, product or industry knowledge plus any certifications in order to be considered.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.

- Hearing protection is required.
- Safety glasses (ANSI Z87 compliant) required in all manufacturing areas.
- Fully enclosed shoes of solid, leather construction with a steel or composite toe cap (ANSI Z41 compliant) must be worn in all manufacturing areas.
