Position Summary The Ink and Coating Engineer is responsible for process development activities supporting the advancement of Plug's fuel cell and/or electrolyzer technologies. This role will report to the Manager, Electrode Process R&D. The candidate will support product commercialization programs, process centric R&D activities and manufacturing needs. The candidate is expected to flex between electrode ink and coating process development, and assignments associated with critical manufacturing and/or customer needs. The position will be responsible for taking high level project deliverables and converting them into actionable items. This will require a fundamental understanding of ink properties and their effect on coating robustness and product performance. This role requires close interaction with the other engineering team members, manufacturing, and laboratory technicians to ensure efforts are coordinated. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, able to handle multiple project assignments and willing to learn and adapt within a fast-paced engineering organization. Core Duties and Responsibilities

Desired Skills
- Experience in colloidal dispersion science
- Experience in ink dispersion process development and subsequent scale-up to manufacturing.
- Experience in roll-to-roll slot die coating process development and subsequent scale-up to manufacturing.
- Process R&D experience with focus on developing fundamental understanding
- Experience in rheological, particle size techniques and coating quality evaluation
- Sound experimental design, data compilation and analysis required
- Design for manufacturability experience a plus.
- Comfort with hands-on experimentation at laboratory, pilot and production scales a must.
- Experience handling flammable solvents, catalysts & polymers in a laboratory environment a must
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical (or equivalent) engineering preferred.
- 1-5 years of related work history preferred.
- Experience with PEM fuel cell and/or electrolyzer technology is strongly preferred.
- Experience in Microsoft excel and data analysis programs (Minitab, JMP).
- Skill in communicating complex concepts in an understandable form.
- Supreme organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Works well in a team with a results-oriented and self-motivated work style and excellent task-based follow through.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Pay Rate:
$92,300.00 - $138,400.00
