Description
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the completion of work in all areas of business pertaining to the functioning and operation of the department. This includes scheduling of procedures, facilitating communication for the unit, processing of patient medical records, processing and entry of patient charges, data entry and retrieval via utilization of various hospital information systems, completion of departmental reports, statistics, organization of the unit work area and support to the operations of patient care services including patient transport and peripheral IV removal Requirements EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent required. Unit secretary/clerk, medical terminology and computer experience preferred. Medical terminology training to be obtained within first year of employment CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Current BLS issued through American Heart Association is required. Must complete Certified Nursing Assistant course and obtain certification within 6 months of hire date. Completion of Advanced Certified Nursing Assistant course or Emergency Medical Technician certification or equivalent required within first year of hire date. SKILLS:
EXPERIENCE: Two years related experience in a health field preferred. NATURE OF SUPERVISION: -Responsible to: Clinical Managers of OR and Perianesthesia, Director Surgical Services. ENVIRONMENT: - Bloodborne pathogen B Works in a clean, well-lighted, ventilated smoke-free environment. Employee will be instructed in Universal Precautions and Right To Know information. Employee will be expected to utilize all protective equipment available when there is a potential for exposure to infectious material or hazardous chemicals. Cleaning, repair and replacement of this protective equipment will be furnished by the hospital. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires the ability to speak, listen, develop and communicate written materials. Considerable sitting/standing/walking. Must have knowledge and use of good body mechanics. Hearing and visual acuity within normal limits. Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination required. Must be able to carry up to 15 pounds and assist in the transport of patients weighing up to 200 pounds. Must be able to listen to multiple conversations around working area while performing other tasks. Utilizes available resources to prevent worker injuries. |
