Your responsibilities
Job Summary The Regional Safety Coordinator will be responsible to develop policies / programs meant to promote employee health and safety or environmental compliance to align with laws, regulations, and standards within the organization. This role will provide guidance on how to best correct safety issues within their assigned regions. Job Description

Regional Safety Responsibilities:

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining a proactive Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) culture by providing leadership and expertise
  • Work with facility managers on incident investigations; lead and create safety training for the region, and lead safety audits - including 6S+ audits
  • Regularly conducts assessments and partner with facility and regional leadership to identify environmental, health and safety areas of risk and implement proactive strategy to drive sustainable results and improvement.
  • Travel up to two facilities per month within the region responsible; additional travel may be required based on business needs
  • Capitalize on opportunities to build the knowledge and capabilities of leaders and employees around workers compensation, safety, health, and environmental practices.
  • Interacts with employees in all functions and levels, subcontractors, outside vendors and other non-company contacts to drive EHS initiatives and culture
  • Assures company safety, health, and environmental programs are fully implemented and functional in meeting compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, regulations, guidelines and ThyssenKrupp Materials North America's key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Makes certain employees maintain a high awareness of safety, health, and environmental initiatives
  • Ensures the implementation of continuous improvement programs and lean projects in compliance with EHS regulations Measures and reports to Group Company leadership on site and company level metrics related to program compliance and completion
  • Keeps current on federal, state, and local legislation regarding NFPA/OSHA/EPA compliance requirements
  • Maintains knowledge of current and emerging issues and trends in area of regulatory compliance
  • Ensures the development and maintenance of site-specific manuals, records of inspections, and incidents relating to EHS issues
  • Work with tkMNA Corporate Safety Director, and tkMNA Safety Council to promote safety initiatives throughout tk
  • Provides 24X7 on-call support for emergencies and critical issues.
  • Assist Plant Management with Incident Investigation
  • This is a position that works directly on the warehouse floor on/or around heavy machinery.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in Safety - inclusive of 1 year in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Extensive travel is required: 50% - 70% travel to plant locations within the region (between 4-7 facilities) and occasionally to other facilities across the US
  • Knowledge of federal, state, OSHA/EPA regulations, safety equipment
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to provide documentation of safety procedures
  • Demonstrated success in driving consistent improvement in leading indicators for EHS.
  • Effective communication, influence, and coaching skills with individuals at all levels.
  • Strong incident investigation, root cause analysis and continuous improvement skills
  • Willingness and ability to provide 24X7 on call support for emergencies
  • Demonstrated ability to lead training to large and small groups
  • OSHA 10 hour or 30 Hour (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire)
  • Ability to obtain CPR/first aid certification and trainer credentials (within 90 days of hire)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety or related field
  • Demonstrated success managing large projects and initiatives, and building and executing safety and/or environmental programs
Job Compensation

$75K - $85K + 10% Salary Bonus Incentive
