Overview

Position Overview

The Business Development Analyst plays a crucial role in TRC's growth by supporting business development, marketing, sales operations, and client engagement. This early-career position (2+ years of experience) is ideal for a highly analytical and motivated professional who can balance market research, proposal development, inside sales, and strategic client outreach.

The role is also responsible for establishing an inside sales function within the IFS group, focusing on lead generation, qualification, and engagement to enhance efficiency and scale operations.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Client Engagement

  • Support early-stage client engagement, assisting senior business development leaders with outreach and relationship-building.
  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities through industry research, CRM tools, and competitive analysis.
  • Assist in proposal development, ensuring alignment with client needs and TRC service offerings.
  • Develop and maintain marketing materials, presentations, and sales collateral.
  • Track industry trends, regulatory updates, and market dynamics that impact TRC's service lines.

Inside Sales Development & Lead Generation

  • Establish an inside sales process to expand TRC's market reach efficiently.
  • Conduct outbound prospecting, including calls, emails, and LinkedIn outreach, to generate and qualify leads.
  • Schedule introductory meetings and strategy sessions for senior business development leaders.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients to identify additional service opportunities and strengthen relationships.
  • Utilize CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar) to track engagements, report on pipeline health, and improve data-driven decision-making.

Sales Performance Tracking & Market Intelligence

  • Develop reports and dashboards to track sales performance, client engagement, and market penetration.
  • Provide data-driven insights to refine business development strategies.
  • Support senior leadership with forecasting, competitive analysis, and sales trend reporting.

Proposal & Marketing Support

  • Assist in preparing RFP responses, capabilities statements, and custom client proposals.
  • Work with marketing and operations teams to align messaging and branding with TRC's market positioning.
  • Track proposal win/loss rates and recommend areas for improvement.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Business Development & Sales Acumen: Understanding of consultative selling in the energy infrastructure sector. (Related/tertiary skills also accepted).
  • Analytical & Research Skills: Ability to analyze market data, client needs, and industry trends.
  • Communication & Relationship Building: Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage with clients effectively.
  • Marketing & Proposal Development: Interest or experience in crafting proposals, marketing materials, and presentations.
  • Project Coordination: Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Qualifications

  • Prefer: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Prefer: 2+ years of relevant or relatable experience in encompassing the areas above.
  • Experience with lead generation, client outreach, and CRM tools is a plus.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
