Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Assistant Research Technician. In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for conducting laboratory research, collaborating with and providing support for other lab members on their research projects, and contributing to the organization of the lab. Works under the supervision of the principal investigator and other lab members.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lab Duties - conducts research in biochemistry, molecular biology, and bacteriology in collaboration with other lab members by following existing protocols. Assists in developing and implementing new laboratory procedures and modifying existing procedures. Performs routine technical tasks.
  • Lab Organization - takes responsibility for the general organization of the lab by keeping inventories, ordering and tracking laboratory supplies, preparing stock reagents, and helping to maintain equipment.
  • Record keeping - keeps detailed digital records of research procedures, data and inventories.
  • Communication - communicates ideas, problems, suggestions and procedures in a timely and effective manner both orally and in writing. Maintains the confidentiality of research information.
  • Reading - reads specified research articles in the scientific literature to become informed about pertinent scientific knowledge.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

This is an entry level trainee position with no experience necessary and a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Life Sciences or a related field is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's of Science Degree in Life Sciences or a related field. Experience in conducting original laboratory research in biochemistry and/or molecular biology. Strong oral and written communication skills. Basic computer literacy.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $46,428.00 - $54,908.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
