TEST & TRIALS WORKER-A

GENERAL FUNCTION: Implements testing of all vessel equipment and systems, up to and including sea trials, in compliance with customer requirements.

TYPICAL DUTIES: The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.

Troubleshoot, commission, test, and operate marine diesel power/gas turbine plants and all related auxiliary equipment. Line up all systems for operation, set controls, interpret temperature, pressure, and flow readings. Set up and operate automatic controls, air conditioning, refrigeration plants, and various other auxiliary equipment common to naval vessels.

Conduct underway testing during sea trials. Stand watches, maintaining control of assigned space/equipment and communicating effectively with other stations. Conduct post sea trial inspections of equipment.

Maintain current documents of testing for all projects. Submits standard and special status reports as assigned.

Addresses deficiencies evidenced as a result of testing and works with Company engineers to correct deficiencies.

Calibrate and install shipboard instrumentation (pressure and temperature gauges, switches, etc). Maintain all associated documentation and control of company testing equipment.

Provide security oversight for foreign national vendors, as required.

Lock out and clear equipment in accordance with company's Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) policies.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Considerable knowledge of shipbuilding processes and industry standards and regulations. Good knowledge of testing equipment and measuring devices and the ability to instruct inspectors on their proper operation. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications and develop sound, thorough inspection programs. Ability to effectively supervise and to interface effectively with customers, management and employees in all areas within the division.

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING: Must have at least 4 years of Propulsion, Auxiliary, Fuel, or Damage Control Experience.
