Position description

The Busciglio laboratory at the Department of Neurobiology and Behavior is seeking a candidate for a Professional Research series to provide scientific leadership for a project directed to understand the development of Alzheimer's disease in persons with Down syndrome and to elucidate how chronic neuroinflammation, interferonopathy, and deregulation of nerve growth factor signaling across the individual's life span modulate the pathological cascade.

This position is open for Professional Researchers at all ranks-Assistant, Associate, and Full rank determined based on experience. It requires an M.D. or Ph.D. in neuroscience or a related field.

The successful candidate will take a major responsibility for ongoing and future research programs, will lead on questions of experimental design, develop scientific interpretation of research data, present scientific findings at conferences and in invited talks, manage national and international collaborations, mentor junior trainees associated with the project, and participate in the writing of manuscripts, grant applications and progress reports. The candidate is expected to write and submit grants as Principal Investigator.

Other requirements include broad experience in cell and molecular biology, cell culture techniques, confocal fluorescence imaging, electrophysiology, as well as knowledge of statistical methods and software to process proteomics and RNA sequencing for the data analyses in the context of Alzheimer's disease and Down syndrome in vitro models and brain specimens studies. The ideal candidate must posess a proven track record of original publications.

This is an ongoing recruitment and positions are dependent upon availability of extramural funding. Initial appointments are for one year and renewal is based on job performance and availability of support. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and years of experience.

Qualified candidates should send curriculum vitae and statement of research, along with the names and addresses of three references to the following on-line recruitment URL to submit the material requested:
